The jury of the international competition AllForJan Award selected three journalists nominated for the main prize. This group included: Christian A. Leonte and Andrej Popovichu from Romania and Peter Szabo from Slovakia. The announcement of the winner of this year's contest and the AllForJan award will take place on February 23 as part of the international conference Media For Freedom Summit.
The AllForJan award honors journalists in Central and Eastern Europe for exceptional and courageous journalism that has made a big impact on society and innovative ways of telling stories to the public. The award is dedicated to the AllForJan global movement, which was founded after the death of Jan Kuciak, a young investigative journalist from Slovakia who was killed in 2018.
Announcement of the winner of this year's competition and the AllForJan award in the amount of PLN 10,000. Euro, will be held on February 23 as part of the international conference Media For Freedom Summit. A round-the-clock conference on contemporary threats to free and independent media will be held this year under the theme “Media Hacking. A new frontier in the war for democracy. The role of law and technology in ensuring media independence will be discussed by world legends of investigative journalism: Carl Bernstein of The Washington Post, discoverer of the Watergate scandal and winner of the Pulitzer Prize, Carol Cadwalladr of The Guardian, discoverer of the Facebook-Cambridge Analytica scandal, Matthew Caruana Galizia and Roman Anin, laureates Pulitzer Prize for the Panama Papers, Laurent Richard, European Pulitzer Prize winner for Project Pegasus.
The Media Summit for Freedom is organized by the European Magazine Media Association (EMMA) and the European Newspaper Publishers Association (ENPA).
